ON/OFF TIME VERSUS BATTERY LIFE
The characteristics of a DC motor dictate that it takes much
more current to start the motor turning than it does to maintain
its proper RPM. With this in mind, the Decoy Brain allows a minimum of 4
seconds on and a minimum of 5 seconds off . These numbers allow for
a usage time as if the unit were spinning constantly. Any further
off time added will increase the usage time per battery charging.
We hunt with and recommend 8 seconds off, and 5 seconds on. See the
Switch Settings Page for
more information on how to set the timing cycles.
SET CLOSE TO THE WATER
The Decoy Brain is
intended to simulate a landed duck stretching its wings as opposed
to one that is landing. Setting the Spinning Wing Decoys or
Motion Decoys close to the water better depicts this and the
wings will also generate ripples on the water which further add to
the realism and effectiveness of your spread.
USE MORE THAN ONE DECOY BRAIN
If you have the luxury of owning several motion decoys running
the Decoy Brain in your
spread, then you will truly come to know the meaning of
"THE LOOK THAT KILLS
"
DECOY BRAIN WING STOP CONTROL
In order to make the wings of the Decoy Brain stop vertical to the
water we apply slotted lead sinkers of various size in the 3/8
ounce range to each wing. Then with both wings attached to the
decoy unit, and with the motor off, turn the wings to any position
and release them. If the weighted end does not rotate to the bottom
add equal amounts of weight to both wings by increasing the sinker
size. Once you have found the minimum amount of weight to
accomplish this glue the weights with JB Weld to the wings as the
centrifugal force of rotation will throw them off if they are
simply crimped on. See picture below for example.
